Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Region Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear without a trace.
