Scammers Pose as Police Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, disappears and no longer appears.
