Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri in Garda Region to Sell Fake Magazine Subs

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality‘s police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately report any suspicions to the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you sense you might have been targeted by individuals who,

having obtained money, disappear without a trace.
