Scammers Impersonate Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda area, proposing subscriptions to armed forces magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal Police.

How to Recognize Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

have obtained money, and then disappear.
