Scammers Pose as Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions
They masquerade as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.
These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, police, fire department, or Municipal guards.
How to recognize scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you sense you have been targeted by someone who,
having obtained money, disappears and no longer appears.
