Carabinieri Impersonation Scams Target Garda Hoteliers and Shopkeepers

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering magazine subscriptions from the arma.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, the fire brigade, or the Comune firefighters.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

after receiving money, no longer shows up or communicates.
