Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Posing as Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, they offer subscriptions to the army magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to Recognize the Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the authentic Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, disappear and do not show up again.
