Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Target Garda Businesses

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to the command’s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately inform the Carabinieri— simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

after obtaining money, then disappear and no longer appear.
