Scammers Impersonate Police for Garda Area Magazine Scams

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to fake magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri— simply dial 112— as soon as you suspect you are targeted by someone who,
