Scammers Posing as Carabinieri Target Garda Hoteliers and Shop Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in Medio and Alto Garda, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, fire brigade, or the Comune police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri— just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect that you have been targeted by someone who,

after obtaining money, no longer shows up.
