Desenzano, new Social Health Center still closed

The new Polifunctional Socio-Health Center in Desenzano del Garda, located in Via Mezzocolle, has been ready for months but has not yet opened its doors to the public. This is the central theme of recent statements by councilor Andrea Spiller of the Five Star Movement.

According to Spiller, the facility appears to be completed with all the associated services, including parking and road signage, but remains inexplicably closed. “The facility has been funded and built thanks to the Abrami Foundation and should be managed by the ASST of Garda,” said the councilor. The center is intended to host various essential territorial services such as a family clinic, a vaccination center, an office for choosing and revoking a primary care physician, a training center, and a conference hall. In addition, there will also be a child and adolescent neuropsychiatry center and a center for depression care.

The inauguration of the facility was initially scheduled for spring 2023. However, this date has been postponed to the fall of the same year and subsequently delayed several times without clear explanations of the causes of the delays or the new definitive timing. Currently, it seems unlikely that the center will open before the end of summer.

One of the events that contributed to these delays was the fire at the Le Vele shopping center. This incident caused the relocation of the services there to the new facility to be postponed.

“The frustration among users and healthcare personnel is reaching unsustainable levels,” said Spiller. The awareness of having a brand-new facility ready for use but unused for months increases the general discontent.

Spiller expressed gratitude to Regional Councilor Paola Pollini for her constant commitment to seeking answers from regional health authorities and the ASST of Garda. “We hope that this postponement is the last one,” concluded Spiller, hoping that this matter can finally be resolved and the promised essential services can be returned to the citizens.
