The Garda Karate Team recently participated in the third stage of the Karate 1 Youth League held in Porec, Croatia. The event, which took place from June 27th to 30th, saw coach Giovanni accompanied by athlete Lisa Maffizzoli.

The event recorded massive participation with almost 4000 total registrations and representatives from 76 different nations. In total, there were 801 teams, with Italy fielding a contingent of 570 athletes. The competitions were divided into four age groups: Under 21, Juniors, Cadets, and Under 14, spread over four days of competition.

Italian Participation

Italy stood out for the large participation of its athletes, demonstrating the importance and growth of karate in the national sports scene. Our Lisa Maffizzoli competed in the -61 kg category during the kumite competitions scheduled for Saturday, June 29th. Despite tough competition with eight pools in her category, Lisa faced prepared and ambitious opponents with determination.

Lisa Maffizzoli’s Performance

Lisa did not manage to reach the podium this time, but her dedication and performance were a source of great satisfaction for her and the entire team. Sports often teach valuable lessons even in defeats, such as learning from one’s mistakes to become stronger.

Participating in the international event is still an honor and an opportunity for personal and professional growth for the athletes involved. The dedication shown by Lisa is a significant example of the value of sports as an educational and formative tool.
