Controversy Erupts Over Tree Removal and Construction on Val Gola Bike Path

Construction of the Garda cycling corridor faces new protests after the recent removal of dozens of trees in the Val Gola reserve, including centuries-old cypress trees. Images circulated by the Interregional Coordination for Garda Protection show damaged signage and areas where structures of concrete and iron are being built for the future pedestrian and cycling bridge.

Environmental groups report that tree felling has also occurred in Torri del Benaco and are calling for a halt to the project and a comprehensive review of the plan. They question the permits and the nature of the ongoing construction, demanding greater oversight and environmental consideration.
