Lonato del Garda Opposition Calls for Environmental Monitoring After Valli S.p.A. Fire
Opposition councillors in Lonato del Garda have called for further monitoring of agricultural land—covering crops, pastures and water—after the fire involving Valli S.p.A., citing early emission results released by ARPA Lombardia and a new mayoral ordinance. The municipality confirmed that, within a one-kilometre radius, residents are still banned from consuming fruit and vegetables from their own harvest, from eating food and drinking water left outdoors, and that there are restrictions for backyard poultry.
The opposition group—Lonato Insieme, Partito Democratico and Onda Civica—said sampling was carried out at a single point and that the real extent of any fallout has not yet been defined. They urged that monitoring continue and expand to soil, crops, pastures and water bodies, adding that they have not received communications from Valli S.p.A. They also requested that all environmental checks be completed and that findings be published promptly.
