Documentary on the Treuenbrietzen Massacre of Italian Military Detainees Screens at MAG

The MAG Museo Alto Garda will host a free screening on Monday, 7 September 2026 of a documentary dedicated to the massacre of Italian Military Internees in Treuenbrietzen. The event is part of the opening programme of the exhibition “Italiani nelle SS 1943-1945 Autori/Esecutori,” and no booking is required.

The exhibition runs from 6 September to 3 October 2026 and examines the involvement of Italians in the Italian SS Legion and the German Waffen-SS. Curated by Gianfranco Ceccanei and conceived by the Carlo Levi Association in Berlin, it is promoted by ANPI Alto Garda e Ledro in collaboration with the Riccardo Pinter Association, with a focus on prompting reflection on the post-war republican democracy and the “anti-fascist Constitution,” including for students and the wider public.

The official opening takes place on Sunday, 6 September, featuring performances by the choir of the Carlo Levi Association in Berlin and the screening of a film about partisan Riccardo Goruppi. The Monday event concludes the programme with the Treuenbrietzen documentary, presented as a key case within the exhibition’s broader historical documentation through records and testimonies.
