Piazza degli Alpini to Be Inaugurated Sunday, Sept. 13 in Castelnuovo
The inauguration of “Piazza degli Alpini” will take place on Sunday, September 13 at 7:00 p.m. in Castelnuovo del Garda, in the area in front of the town hall, following the redevelopment works that also affected part of the square and the paving on Via Marconi and Via dell’Artigliere. The ceremony will include local authorities and will be followed by a reception and a concert.
The project, designed by architect Cinzia Frapporti, reshapes a key link between Piazza della Libertà and the town center, aiming to make the area safer, more accessible, and usable in the evening. The new paving features porphyry blocks with contrasting arches, along with revised access steps and an accessibility ramp now made with porphyry slabs; two new planters with seating define the space. Work in front of the town hall includes non-slip, polished white stone paving, the conversion of a former green area into a parking area reserved for people with disabilities, new stone benches integrated into the retaining wall, spherical concrete bollards, and LED pedestrian lighting. Mayor Davide Sandrini highlighted the project’s impact on public space quality and the enhancement of the historic center. The evening schedule includes a ribbon-cutting at 7:00 p.m., a reception at 8:00 p.m., and a 9:00 p.m. performance of “Corde d’Italia”; if bad weather occurs, the concert will be held in the XI Aprile 1848 civic hall.
