Moniga del Garda Launches Community Archive With Participatory Historical Research

Moniga del Garda is launching a community archive built through a participatory historical research project, aimed at collecting memories, documents and testimonies at risk of being lost. The initiative will be presented on Thursday, 10 September at 8:30 pm in the municipal council chamber, following the latest meeting with historian Bruno Festa.

The project, promoted with the ASAR – Associazione storica-archeologica della Riviera del Garda, will involve Andrea Montagni, Elia Tavacca, Gian Pietro Brogiolo, Simone Don and Antonio Foglio. It will cover a long timeline—from the origins of the stilt houses to the Roman era, the Middle Ages, the Magnifica Patria, the Risorgimento, the RSI period and the Republic—and includes the creation of a digital geographic-historical map that will compile buildings, significant places and even street names.

Contributions will be gathered through simple interviews and the submission of old photos, letters and diaries, with inputs also expected on everyday life, such as surnames, family records and other local traces. All materials will be organized in a freely consultable digital folder with informational sheets. Guided visits begin on Saturday, 12 September at 3:00 pm with a tour of Moniga’s castle and, afterward, the Parrocchiale di San Martino; booking is required via WhatsApp at 3334790363.
