Lulù Wins the 76th CentoMiglia di Gargnano as Tea Faoro Becomes First Woman to Take the Garda Classic

The 76th CentoMiglia International del Garda ended in Gargnano on Sunday, September 6, 2026, with Lulù—Tea Faoro’s Ufo 22—winning the ORC Overall standings and the Bettoni Trophy. Sailing Double Handed with Mauro Grandone, Faoro and Grandone also took the top spot in the Double Handed classification, a landmark result as it is the first time a female owner-helmswoman has won the classic race.

The victory was built on consistent results across two days: Lulù placed third in Saturday’s Gargnano Trophy and eighth in Sunday’s Gorla Trophy, finishing with 11 points and two lengths ahead of Peter Koenig’s 6Q. Third overall went to Pirillina (Platu 25), while other top finishers included Blue Marlin (First 8) and Fremito d’Arja (Melges 32). The edition also highlighted how ORC corrected time can keep competition open between very different boats, with smaller, less extreme designs benefiting from the handicap system.

The regatta featured a strong youth presence, alongside notable sailing conditions: Saturday’s light, variable winds on the Bogliaco route, and Sunday’s classic Garda scenario with Peler around 20 knots and shaped waves. In real time, Thomas Jundt’s QFX won both the Gargnano Trophy and the Gorla Trophy Line Honours, while class and ORC Classic results were led by Back in Black (Dolphin 81), Assterisco (Asso 99), and Airone Blu (ORC Classic). The event was organized by Circolo Vela Gargnano with support from multiple local partners and FIV officials, and was followed from shore with live updates and commentary.
