MAG Riva del Garda Hosts Exhibit on Italians in the SS

A temporary exhibition titled **“Italiani nelle SS 1943-1945 Autori/Esecutori”** is on view at the **MAG in Riva del Garda** until **October 3**. Promoted by the **Associazione Carlo Levi** in collaboration with the **ANPI** and the **Associazione Riccardo Pinter**, it opened last weekend and can be visited **free of charge** in the museum’s ground-floor spaces. The show includes opportunities for discussion about how **Nazism and Fascism** affected both **Germany and Italy**.

The exhibition is curated by **Gianfranco Ceccanei**, a professor at the **Popular University of Berlin**, who received the **highest honor** from German President **Frank-Walter Steinmeier** for his research on Fascism and anti-Fascism. Ceccanei began his work by studying Italian deportees and the **Italian Military Internees (IMI)**, leading to an unexpected finding: according to his account, some Italians were recruited by the SS in labor camps and agreed to wear SS uniforms, including people connected to early Fascism, those seeking to return to Italy, and others who later joined the partisans. **Four of the exhibition’s 24 panels** focus on the **Alto Garda** area.
