On Saturday 24 October, traffic around Lake Garda is dominated by the Sanico Sapori d’Autunno festival in Toscolano Maderno, with Via Sanico closed to traffic all day, and by the installation of Christmas lights in the old centres of Maderno and Toscolano. Elsewhere on the lake there are roadworks with alternating one-way traffic and parking bans, most of them lasting until the end of the month.
Main lakeside roads
In Bardolino, alternating one-way traffic is in force from 20 to 27 October at the junction between the SP 31 provincial road and the Bardolina road, while a new set of traffic lights is installed.
In Malcesine, the area behind the bus station is closed to traffic until 28 October from 9.30 am to 5 pm, for a trial service carrying coach tourists from the Retelino area to the coach station.
Festivals and events
The Sanico Sapori d’Autunno festival takes over Via Sanico in Toscolano Maderno. On Saturday 24 October, from 8 am to midnight and until the event ends, traffic and parking are banned for all vehicles. On 23 and 25 October, from 8 am to 8 pm, parking is banned to set up the area.
For the installation of the Christmas lights, some streets in the centres of Maderno and Toscolano are closed to traffic on 24 and 25 October from 8 am to 6 pm, including Via Cavour, Via Benamati, Via Garibaldi and Via Trento. The work site moves along, and streets reopen as the lights are put up. In case of bad weather, the work is postponed to the following day.
In Sirmione, the national gathering of the retired Alpine Brigades’ fanfare bands changes parking and traffic. Piazzale Europa is closed from the evening of Friday 23 October until 1 pm on Sunday 25 October, while Piazza Rovizzi is closed on Saturday 24 October from 1 pm to 3.30 pm.
Roadworks in the towns
In Lonato del Garda, Via Lazzaretto is closed to traffic and parking until 31 October, from 8.30 am to 12 pm and from 1 pm to 6 pm, for a new electricity network. Vehicles of the contractor and residents are allowed. In Via Rassica, between Via Isonzo and number 22, one-way traffic alternates and parking is banned from 20 to 31 October, 8 am to 5 pm.
In Lazise, Via Po is closed from 21 to 30 October, 8 am to 6 pm, weekends included, for the replacement of the water pipes. In Via Confine, Via Venezia, Vicolo Confine, Via del Burlin and Via Derna, one-way traffic alternates, controlled by traffic marshals or lights, and parking is banned from 21 October to 6 November, 7.30 am to 6 pm on weekdays, for fibre-optic cable works.
In Desenzano del Garda, Via Ugo La Malfa has alternating one-way traffic from 24 to 31 October, 8 am to 7 pm, for resurfacing and drain installation.
In Manerba del Garda, Via Pascoli has alternating one-way traffic from 1 pm on 21 October to midnight on 30 October. Parking is banned, with vehicle removal, and the speed limit is 20 km/h.
In Salò, at number 35 in Via Brunati, one-way traffic controlled by marshals applies from 15 to 30 October, 8.30 am to 5 pm.
In Brenzone sul Garda, maintenance and resurfacing works in Via De Loc, in the Assenza district, and in the Borago area affect the roads from 19 to 30 October, 7 am to 7 pm.
In Toscolano Maderno, the stretch of the lakeside promenade in front of the small harbour, between Via Religione and Viale Marconi, is closed from 19 October until 6 November. It reopens to pedestrians and cyclists on the days before holidays and on holidays.
