The Fountain of the Sailors in Bardolino has resumed its splashing, bringing life and beauty back to the Bardolino lakeside. After a long period of inactivity, the water jet has been restored thanks to extraordinary maintenance initiated by the new administration led by Mayor Daniele Bertasi. The fountain, inaugurated in 2001 and designed by architect Stefano Fornari, is located in the waters near Villa delle Magnolie and is dedicated to the sailors who fell for their country. The submerged electric pumps have been cleaned of encrustations and mollusks that were hindering their operation.
The mayor expressed his satisfaction with the fountain’s return to operation, emphasizing the symbolic importance of the work for the local community. Additionally, councilor Alessandra Galiotto fondly remembered Cav. Maurizio Faraoni, the honorary president of the “Sante Alberti” sailors’ association, who had strongly advocated for this project over twenty years ago. Work will continue with the improvement of the lighting system to make this corner of the lake even more enchanting during the evening hours.
