On Sunday, May 18, the International Museum Day is celebrated, an event promoted by ICOM (International Council of Museums) aimed at highlighting the importance of museums in society. The Alto Garda Museum actively participates in this initiative by offering reduced admission for the public. The goal is to raise community awareness about the cultural and educational value of museum institutions.
The day’s program includes USCIO, a unique experience scheduled for 10:30 AM, which combines a guided tour along the Peace Trail with a contemporary dance performance organized in collaboration with Seesaw Project. This event represents a poetic journey between history and nature, culminating at Forte Garda where attendees can visit the exhibition “WARS. Beyond Borders. Within Peoples.” At the end of the activity, participants will have the opportunity to enjoy a convivial moment.
Free Guided Tours
In addition to the special morning event, on Sunday, May 18, at 2:30 PM, there will be a free guided tour of the Alto Garda Museum and its newly renovated Pinacoteca. This monthly appointment offers visitors the chance to discover the curiosities and wonders of the museum.
Temporary Exhibition “WARS”
Inaugurated in April at Forte Garda, the exhibition “WARS. Beyond Borders. Within Peoples” addresses themes related to historical and contemporary conflicts through evocative imagery. This exhibition is part of the Year of Museums of the Euregio 2025 and invites reflection on the social injustices that persist in our time.
The exhibition is divided into four main sections:
- The Borderline – Represents the drama experienced by those living along borders marked by war.
- Across the Border – Tells the stories of those who seek to overcome barriers in pursuit of a better future.
- Beyond War – Explores how hope and solidarity emerge even in the darkest moments.
- The Faces of Borders – Through poignant portraits, illustrates the personal experiences of those affected by geopolitical divisions.
The exhibition is curated in collaboration with the Atlas of Wars and Conflicts of the World and Montura, showcasing photographs created as part of the international WARS award dedicated to global conflicts.
The activities proposed by the Alto Garda Museum not only enrich the cultural offerings of the area but also provide points of reflection on relevant themes in our current society.
