Alto Garda Road Project: €58B for Tunnels and New Infrastructure

The road numbers. Three kilometers long, 10.50 meters wide. Two tunnels, the first in rock measuring 640 meters, the second artificial at 137 meters. An overpass over via Venezia; a underpass beneath the Varone stream north of the Hotel School.

Details of costs and works

58 billion euros is the total cost from via Monte Oro to the Riva-Arco state road. 27 billion euros allocated for the tunnels, and 8 billion euros available for the expropriation of necessary land. 10 million euros per day as a premium if the builder manages to finish before the contractual 25 months.

The contract will be single: the same contractor will build both the tunnel and the road. However, individual sections between one roundabout and the next are autonomous and can be completed (and opened to vehicular traffic) at different times.

Project presentation

Engineer Tiso, who oversaw the design of the Busa road network on behalf of the province, along with councilors Molinari, Benedetti, and Casangranda (the first two because they are local, the third as sector head) will come to Riva to present to citizens and operators the project that could represent a turning point in mobility: after a century, something is changing in how residents of the Alto Garda area move around.
