The Garda Community has appointed Andrea Maggioni as the new Presidential Delegate, joining Professor Patrizia Avanzini and lawyer Anna Lisa Baroni, who are already delegates for the Tourism Observatory and for mobility and issues related to the Mincio River, respectively.

Andrea Maggioni, president of the “Salò Promotion” merchants’ association and representative for Confesercenti in the Garda area, has been tasked with managing relations with intermediary bodies and economic and entrepreneurial categories in the Garda region. His position is unpaid and provided for in the Garda Community’s statute.

Maggioni joins Senator Mariastella Gelmini’s presidential staff at a crucial moment for Garda, characterized by significant challenges and opportunities.

On June 14, a meeting was held at the Garda Community headquarters involving the presidential delegates, the Secretary-General, consortium and foundation presidents, and major trade associations. This meeting marked an important step towards closer collaboration between public and private entities to promote and enhance Lake Garda.

President Mariastella Gelmini outlined two main objectives for the future of Garda: consolidating traditional European tourist markets and entering new markets such as China, the United States, and Arab countries. Gelmini emphasized the importance of issues such as transportation, water safety, and purification, with a focus on green tourism and ecological transition. “We wanted to strengthen the Presidential Delegation team by inviting Andrea Maggioni, an industry operator deeply rooted in the production fabric, who can act as a bridge between productive activities and the Garda Community.”

Andrea Maggioni thanked President Gelmini for the trust placed in him, stating that the working group with trade associations will be a fundamental tool for promoting Garda in its various dimensions: “The working group with all the trade associations operating in Garda last Friday, June 14, is and will be a useful tool for collaboration between public and private entities, each with their specific roles but with the common goal of promoting, enhancing, and supporting Lake Garda in its various aspects and peculiarities.”
