For the summer of 2023, the beaches of Riva del Garda will once again prohibit ball games. The ordinance, valid from June 28th to September 28th, applies to the area between Punta Lido and the San Nicolò port. This measure has been introduced in response to numerous reports and complaints from beachgoers.

Local authorities have decided to intervene to ensure greater tranquility and safety for all beach visitors. The received reports indicate that bathers are often disturbed or hit by balls, creating uncomfortable situations. The urban police regulations already prohibit such activities in crowded areas, but this ordinance extends the ban to the entire affected zone.

Luca Grazioli, the security councilor, explained that the intervention was prompted by both local businesses and families and guests of the beaches. “It is our duty to guarantee the safety and tranquility of those who frequent the beach and those who work there,” said Grazioli. He also emphasized that there are designated spaces like Miralago where such activities are allowed.

The details of the ordinance clearly specify the prohibition: “the ban on playing any ball game in all areas of the Riva del Garda beach located south of the cycle path, from Punta Lido to the San Nicolò port […] as well as the ban on engaging in any other game involving the throwing of objects.” Areas designated for specific sports activities are exempt from the ban.

Violations of the ordinance will be punished with administrative fines ranging from 25 to 150 euros, subject to any applicable criminal provisions.

The hope of the authorities is that this measure will serve as an effective deterrent to maintain a serene and safe environment for all those who choose Riva del Garda as their summer destination.
