A catamaran capsized off the coast of Limone yesterday afternoon, Thursday, April 17, causing moments of fear for the crew on board. The incident occurred due to bad weather, and the alert was raised around 2:45 PM when the inland waters team of the Riva del Garda police station received a report of a vessel in distress. A patrol boat from the State Police intervened despite the adverse weather conditions, with winds blowing at 29 knots and waves reaching up to 1.60 meters.
The officers managed to locate one castaway in the water approximately 500 meters from the shore, who was immediately rescued. Shortly after, near the overturned hull, the second person who had clung to the vessel while awaiting help was also saved. The operation concluded with the recovery and righting of the catamaran, which was then towed to the nearest beach. Fortunately, thanks to the promptness of the rescue efforts, both castaways were brought to safety without serious consequences.
