Carabinieri Impersonators Target Garda Businesses with Fake Magazines
Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines related to the armed forces.
These are not military personnel, but con artists who, at different times, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal police force.
How to recognize scams
They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with the law enforcement agencies.
So, be cautious and immediately alert the Carabinieri — dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
if they have money, do not appear again.
