Carabinieri Impersonators Target Garda Hoteliers in Scam Calls

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not soldiers, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to recognize scams

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after obtaining money, disappears.
