The 2025 municipal elections have brought about a significant shift in the politics of Alto Garda Trentino, with final results emerging from the runoff elections held on Sunday, May 18. In Riva del Garda, the center-left triumphed thanks to Alessio Zanoni, who garnered 60.89% of the votes, surpassing the outgoing deputy mayor Silvia Betta, who remained at 39%. This success is particularly noteworthy given the controversies surrounding the “Romeo” investigation that involved former mayor Cristina Santi. In Arco, the real surprise was the victory of Arianna Fiorio, who becomes the first female mayor of the municipality with a decisive 62.59%, defeating Alessandro Amistadi from the center-right.
In Mori, on the other hand, the center-right achieved a narrow victory: Nicola Mazzucchi edged out the incumbent mayor Stefano Barozzi from the center-left by just 15 votes. Voter turnout was low across all three municipalities, with only 44.17% in Riva del Garda, 48.33% in Arco, and 51.55% in Mori. These figures highlight a growing disaffection among citizens towards local institutions and pose new challenges for the newly elected officials in terms of representativeness and trust.
