As part of efforts to combat labor exploitation in the textile sector, the Financial Police of the Provincial Command of Brescia have conducted operations that led to the seizure of four workshops in the lower Garda area and the lower Brescia region. The inspections, carried out in collaboration with ATS Brescia, involved nine businesses engaged in clothing production and revealed critical working conditions for 71 foreign workers, of whom 35 were employed under exploitative circumstances.
During the inspections, it was found that some workers were living in dilapidated housing and receiving wages below the minimum set by national contracts. Five individuals have been reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for violations of labor regulations, while the facilities involved have been subjected to preventive seizure to prevent the continuation of illegal activities. Additionally, 17 workers were identified as “undeclared” and 4 as “irregular,” highlighting the importance of inspections in ensuring fundamental rights in the labor market.
