Lonato, Closure of San Zeno Tunnel, Traffic Interventions. Starting from January 20, work will commence to upgrade and secure the “San Zeno” tunnel, located on the Lonato bypass. The closure will last for a total of three uninterrupted months, followed by a phase that will impose nighttime restrictions from 8:00 PM to 7:00 AM the next day, expected to continue until the end of April.
This decision has sparked considerable controversy among motorists, as a significant increase in traffic is anticipated on nearby secondary roads, such as Via Mazzardi and the Barcuzzi area. Users are already concerned about potential congestion, especially with the approach of the tourist season, while heavy traffic will be redirected to alternative routes via the highway.
