A serious accident occurred in the late afternoon today, Monday, May 19, in Puegnago del Garda, specifically along Via Roma, near the Castello district. Shortly after 7 PM, a 25-year-old cyclist, a local resident and an avid bike enthusiast, was involved in a collision between two cars: a Dacia and a Volkswagen Golf. According to initial reports, the Dacia was descending Via Roma while the Golf was ascending from Via Indipendenza when, for reasons yet to be determined, one of the vehicles lost control and struck the young cyclist, who was just a few meters from home.
Emergency services were quickly on the scene, alerted by passersby; the responders arrived in code red. Volunteers from Garda arrived with an ambulance and a medical car, followed by an air ambulance that landed nearby to ensure urgent transfer for the young man. His condition appeared very serious, despite moments of consciousness. The drivers of the vehicles involved were unharmed, and routine investigations have been initiated. Officers from the Salò Traffic Police conducted the necessary assessments to reconstruct the accident, while the Carabinieri managed traffic in the area. The community is experiencing great concern for the cyclist’s fate.
