Saint Daniel Comboni and the Historic Tešöl Lemon House in Limone sul Garda

The life of Saint Daniel Comboni remains deeply intertwined with the ancient Tešöl lemon house in Limone sul Garda, where the future missionary and Apostle of Africa was born on March 15, 1831.

Limonaia del Tesol Limone sul Garda 1984
The historic Tešöl lemon house in Limone sul Garda, birthplace of Saint Daniel Comboni.

Perched on the rugged terraces overlooking Lake Garda, the Tešöl (derived from tesa, a place of shelter and net-setting) dates back to the early 18th century, as documented by historical Napoleonic cadastres and land registers. Surrounded by a sea of century-old olive trees and imposing stone pillars of the lemon gardens, the estate witnessed generations of arduous labor, stone-cutting, and agricultural devotion.

Today, preserved in its authentic architecture, the Tešöl stands as an emotional sanctuary of spiritual heritage and rural Garda history.
