Davide Bendinelli and Forza Italia Announce Garda City Council Bid
“Revitalizing Garda“: this is the slogan with which Davide Bendinelli, provincial councilor for Tourism, announced his willingness to run in the upcoming municipal elections for the renewal of the City Council.
A press release from the Garda club of Forza Italia reports this: the text bears the signatures of Bendinelli and the blue party’s coordinator Gustavo Bussinello, who is also a former mayor of the seaside town.
“From now on,” says Bussinello, “Forza Italia is contesting the governance of Garda’s municipal administration. With the enthusiasm of our ideas of freedom and good governance, but above all with clear intervention strategies, we will participate in the elections for the City Council renewal.” Therefore, Forza Italia will be directly involved in the administrative debate, in opposition to the Timone formation, which has been leading the town for two terms.
Political scenario and Bendinelli’s role
How the anti-Timone list will be formed is still premature to say: will it be a Polo coalition, or a broader civic list incorporating other components?
And especially, it is still to be official what role Davide Bendinelli will play, the youngest provincial councilor in Italy (he is 27, having been only 24 at the time of his election). Clearly, it is easy to understand that his presence will not be secondary.
Regarding alliances, it is not difficult to foresee a convergence between Forza Italia and Con Garda, the civic movement currently in opposition in the Council: one of the most prominent members of this council group is Gustavo Bendinelli, Davide’s father.
Positions and critical issues of Bendinelli
Meanwhile, Davide Bendinelli remains available to take on a direct role in the political-administrative affairs of the town.
“I was born and raised here,” he states, “and therefore I have a deep connection with this land, which, in my view, is not being properly valued.”
As for the current administration, “I think overall they have also worked, but some important issues have been left unresolved, starting from the lack of attention paid to young people, as evidenced by the crisis in sports associations and even the absence of a football team.”
Bendinelli also criticizes the administration led by Giorgio Comencini: “,” continues the provincial councilor, “to solve problems related to youth employment, for seniors, and to address serious issues of traffic and parking, as well as to offer tourists adequate services.”
The decision to move the town hall to the former elementary school building on the lakeside has also been criticized by Forza Italia: “Disputable decisions have been made, one above all being the transfer of the Municipality into Garda’s most prestigious building, which could have been used as a venue for cultural and social events.”
