Yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, August 12, a rescue operation took place in the district of Sega, where a woman fell into the Biffis canal. The call to 118 was received around 6:30 PM, prompting the intervention of the Verona Emergency helicopter. A team consisting of air rescue technicians and medical personnel was mobilized to locate the victim in a rugged area between Sega and Pol di Pastrengo. After locating her, a rescuer was lowered by winch to the water to bring her back to safety.
The 67-year-old woman was hoisted aboard in critical condition and received initial treatment during the flight to Borgo Trento hospital, where she is currently hospitalized under close observation in red code. The operation proved to be complex both technically and humanly, requiring impeccable synergy among the operators involved. The President of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia, praised the operation, describing it as “on the edge of the impossible,” highlighting the everyday heroism of the rescuers.
