Fake Carabinieri Callers Impersonate Police to Scam Garda Businesses
They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to police-associated magazines.
They are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the regular police, firefighters, or the Comune police.
How to Recognize Scams
They often propose subscriptions to fake magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately contact the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
having money, disappear without trace.
