Femicides in Castelnuovo del Garda: domestic violence and failures of protection

A tragic **femicide** occurred in **Castelnuovo del Garda** on the night of September 22-23, when Reis Pedroso Douglas, a 41-year-old Brazilian citizen, killed his wife Jessica Stapazzollo Custodio de Lima, aged 33, by inflicting multiple stab wounds inside their home. The man, already known for previous incidents of **domestic violence**, had removed the electronic bracelet that had been imposed on him as a precautionary measure. After the murder, he contacted the Carabinieri expressing suicidal intentions; upon their arrival, they discovered the lifeless body of the woman and the murder weapon inside his car. Reis Pedroso was already under criminal proceedings for mistreatment and other forms of violence against his partner, with incidents dating back to August 2024. Despite the precautionary measures in place, the man continued to violate the restrictions imposed by the justice system. His arrest occurred following yet another incident of aggression in April 2025.
