Dumitru Stratan has been sentenced to twenty years in prison for the femicide of Yana Malaiko, which occurred on the night of January 20, 2023, in an apartment in Castiglione delle Stiviere. The ruling was issued by the judges of the Mantua Court after three hours of deliberation, during which premeditation was ruled out, contrary to the request of prosecutor Lucia Lombardo, who had sought a life sentence for premeditated murder. After committing the crime, Stratan abandoned his ex-girlfriend’s body on a country road at the border with Lonato del Garda.
