A fire has rendered the nursing home in Pozzolengo uninhabitable, following a blaze last Tuesday that destroyed the roof and necessitated the evacuation of 27 elderly residents, all of whom are safe and have been relocated to other care facilities in Colombare and Peschiera. Mayor Alex Franzoni signed an order declaring the building unfit for use after being informed by the Fire Department about the severe condition of the property, which poses significant risks to its stability.
The fire compromised the structural integrity of the building, making a thorough assessment necessary to determine its static and system suitability. It has been established that the property is at risk of collapse; therefore, the owner is ordered not to use it until restoration work is completed. The residents of the nursing home were able to recover some of their personal belongings but hope to return to their home once the structural issues are resolved.
