Fraudsters Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Business Owners
They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hotel owners, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.
These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipality police.
How to recognize scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have no connection to the law enforcement.
Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you sense that you may have been targeted by individuals who,
who seek money, no longer make themselves visible.
