Scammers Pretend to Be Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions
Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area by phone, offering subscriptions to the army magazines.
They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.
Recognizing scams
They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to the authorities.
Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,
having money, no longer appears.
