Fraudsters Impersonate Police to Scam Garda Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda area, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, regular police, fire brigade, or Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,

having obtained money, disappear and do not show up again.
