Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Trick Garda Area Residents

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of finance, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those with no connection to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

having obtained money, no longer shows up.
