Fraudulent Calls Impersonating Carabinieri Target Garda Businesses

They impersonate Carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners from the Middle and Upper Garda regions, offering subscriptions to magazines of the armed forces.

These are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police (Vigili del Comune).

How to recognize scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
