Scammers Pose as Police Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not members of the military, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, police, fire brigade, or municipal police force.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or ones that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by someone who,

after taking your money, disappears and is no longer visible.
