Summer is approaching, and with it comes a highly anticipated initiative for the citizens: the City of Brescia and the Brescia Museums Foundation announce free entry to civic museums for all those born or residing in the city and province. This opportunity, valid from August 1 to August 31, 2025, invites everyone to discover the rich artistic and cultural heritage of the area.

Due to the excellent response from the public last year, the initiative has been renewed, allowing free visits to several museums, including the Santa Giulia Museum, the Tosio Martinengo Art Gallery, Brixia – Archaeological Park of Roman Brescia, the “Luigi Marzoli” Arms Museum, and the “Leonessa d’Italia” Museum of the Risorgimento. Opening hours will be from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM (last entry at 6:15 PM), including Ferragosto.

Access Methods

To access the museums for free, it is necessary to present an identity document that verifies birth or residency in Brescia or the province. Groups must follow the existing booking procedures. In addition to the permanent collections, visitors will also have the opportunity to admire temporary exhibitions, such as those at the Tosio Martinengo Art Gallery dedicated to significant works like “The Birth of Venus” by Giuseppe Bezzuoli.

Starting August 1, a photography exhibition dedicated to Joel Meyerowitz will also be available at the Santa Giulia Museum. The exhibition “A Sense of Wonder,” open until August 24, 2025, presents a retrospective of the American photographer’s career.

Summer Activities and Events

Throughout August, numerous activities are planned to enrich the visitor experience. Guided tours will take place every Sunday at various museums; for instance, on August 3 and 31, tours will be held at the Brixia Archaeological Park. Additionally, special events like “A-PERÒ! Cultural Pearls” will offer brief visits followed by film screenings at the Viridarium – Sculpture Park.

A must-attend event is scheduled for Thursday, August 21, with “Between Stone and Stone,” a tour dedicated to urban flora that will explore plants historically used for medicinal purposes.

For families, creative workshops will be held at the Brescia Castle on August 2 and 10. These activities stimulate the curiosity of younger visitors through tactile and sensory experiences.

Technological Initiatives

Visitors will have free access to the multimedia guide EasyGuide during their visits. Additionally, interactive play paths designed for children featuring Geronimo Stilton and Activity Books will be available at the ticket offices.

This summer represents a unique opportunity to explore Brescia’s art and culture in an accessible way, thereby fostering greater participation from the local community in the city’s cultural life.
