Garda Area Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazines

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be part of the finance department, police, fire brigade, or the Municipal police.

How to recognize scams

They often suggest subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

So, be careful and immediately inform the genuine Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

if they had money, would no longer make themselves visible.
