Garda Area Scammers Pose as Police to Trick Business Owners

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines affiliated with the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, each time, claim to belong to the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Recognizing scams

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or those unrelated to the law enforcement.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if they have money, disappear.
