Garda “Cantalago” Music Festival Celebrates 6th Year with 20 Locations

On Saturday, June 30th, the Garda singing event “Cantalago,” also known as “The Garda Festival,” will set sail from the D’Annunzio beach at “Vittoriale degli Italiani,” marking its sixth year of presence. This is a series of itinerant musical appointments that will involve, this year, as many as 20 locations around Lake Garda. Our province will take the lead with 10 events across as many different towns; 8 on the Venetian shore, 2 in Trentino, and one in Mantua. Exceptional hosts, true national beauties, will alternate each evening on stage to host the event.

Hosts and opening of the festival

In Gardone Riviera, the hosting will be entrusted to Federica Moro (Miss Italy 1982), with distinguished guests Gloria Zanin (Miss Italy 1992) and Susanna Huckstep (Miss Italy 1984). During the opening evening, among the various guests, there will also be the Desenzano singer Diletta Orlandi, who placed second in Cantalago in 1997, and Elisa Antonelli, winner of the 1998 edition.

Both will alternate in the various evenings with well-known songs and original pieces written specifically for them by the festival’s artistic director Andrea Vantini: “Rauin on the Heart” with Orlandi, and “Innamorata Ancora” by Antonelli. These songs are part of the CD produced by Promobenacus, which manages the entire event initiated by Enrico Bianchini. The proceeds will go to the “Progetto Salomè,” supporting the remote adoption of children in Ambodivona in Madagascar, overseen by priests Raffaello Serafini and Romeo Cecchetto.

Schedule of stages and shows

After the opening night in Gardone Riviera, the Cantalago singing caravan will return to Brescia land on July 14th in Desenzano, hosted by Susanna Huckstep; on July 18th in Gargnano with Gloria Zanin; on July 21st in Bedizzole with Huckstep; and on July 25th in Montichiari with host Gloria Zanin.

On August 1st, in Sirmione, Antonella Elia will take the stage as host, while on August 7th in Toscolano Maderno, Federica Moro will be the star.

Finally, on August 16th and 18th, the last evenings in Brescia territory will take place respectively in Salò and Limone, with Gloria Zanin and Susanna Huckstep. The final, with Adriana Volpe, is scheduled for August 27th in Riva del Garda.

Shows and side events

Of course, the 2001 Cantalago will not focus solely on music. During each evening, in addition to the amateur singers competing in a “rigid format,” as Bianchini himself affirms, there will be space for comedy featuring personalities from the well-established Zelig club such as Giorgio Zanetti and Reato Trinca, as well as cabaret artists like Giusy Zenere, Giampietro Perone, and Roberto De Marchi.

Groups and dance troupes such as “Moulin Rouge,” “Gamblers,” and “Matros” will also perform. Besides former Miss Italy titleholders, the event will also feature female beauties participating in the national Miss Italy contest selections, guests at 12 stages of this Garda Festival, which will once again help brighten the summer evenings of Lake Garda 2001.
