From October 9 to 13, Jesolo hosted the World Karate Championships, a historic event that took place in Italy for the first time. This competition saw the participation of around 2,000 athletes from 113 nations, with a particular focus on the U21, Junior, and Cadet categories. Among the teams present, the Italian squad stood out, consisting of 41 athletes ready to give their all in kata and kumite.

A Significant Event

The importance of the tournament was highlighted by the presence of high-level officials in the karate sector and highly qualified referees who ensured the smooth running of the competitions. The leaders of the Garda Karate Team expressed their enthusiasm: “We are talking about a world championship of a great sport – they stated – that took place for the first time in Italy, in the province of Venice, one of the most beautiful and famous cities in the world. It’s a pity that no news outlet covered it…”

Success of the Italian National Team

Italy achieved remarkable results, finishing in second place in the medal standings behind Japan. The Italian team won a total of 15 medals, including 5 golds and 4 fifth places, marking a significant record for our country.

Participation of the Garda Karate Team

To enable its athletes and their families to attend this important competition, the Garda Karate Team organized a bus directly to Jesolo. The atmosphere during the matches was filled with international energy and sporting passion; everyone was united in cheering for the Italian national team. This event not only served as a showcase for the athletes but also as a unique moment to share the love for this sport among enthusiasts and supporters.
